Echternach – Also in 2015, FANUC's presentation of Robomachines at the EMO focuses on the demonstration of practical applications. Here, first priority is on advanced machining capability. With its exemplary application, FANUC shows at the EMO (hall 3, booth E02/G01) that the standard Robodrill machines can handle simultaneous 5-axes machining with the same efficiency as precise machining of large quantities of workpieces.
A Robodrill α-D21 MiA5 automated with an LR Mate robot, for example, manufactures highly sophisticated IT parts. In another automated cell, FANUC demonstrates the manufacture of impellers for the automotive industry on simultaneous 4- and 5-axes machines with two Robodrills α-D14 SiA5.
A novelty is the Robonano α-N1iA, a super nano milling machine. It derives its accuracy from a hydrostatic air bearing in all axes. A first prototype was shown at the previous EMO. In Milan, the machine will now be presented in an application for machining watch components. The Robonano work piece is loaded and unloaded by a standard LR Mate robot by FANUC.
It goes without saying that the entire drive technology is from the FANUC portfolio: Linear drives and rotary drives are directly driven, with the linear axes working with a resolution of 1 nm.
The benefits of the LR Mate also come in strongly at other metal-cutting machines, for example for loading a work piece on a FANUC wire EDM machine Robocut α-C400iA, which is used for cutting PCD tools. With the larger Robocut α-C600iA, the task is even more demanding. Maximum precision is what counts here. This machine is used for electric discharge machining of die cast tools from thick plates. Via Robocut LINKi, the machining status can be displayed in real time on the control monitor.
The FANUC Robomachine portfolio also comprises the Roboshot injection molding machines. With the two models α-S30iA and α-S50iA, the product range now offers even more differentiation to cater for a wide range of customer requirements. The trade show activities are completed by two cells: In one of these, the injection molding machine is all-electric, in the other it is robot-automated.
At the EMO in Milan, FANUC exhibits the new fiber lasers in Europe for the first time. The series will finally comprise six models with capacities between 1 and 6 kW. Now, three models with 1, 2, and 3 kW are on offer. For the time being, the strongest laser is the FANUC Fiber Laser FF 3000i Model A. Since CO2 lasers are also available as an option, you can choose between two alternative technologies for each capacity level. The individual modules of the fiber laser can be connected to build the capacity levels which are in demand on the market. The laser controls 30/31i-LB are particularly well suited to all "Fly Cut" applications. While "flying over the cut", the laser power can be enabled with utmost accuracy. By means of the laser, the laser can be applied with micrometer precision. The fast connection via the FANUC bus FSSB further enhances the "Fly Cut" function.
The launch of a new 3 kW CO2 laser onto the market in early 2015 was a clear sign that FANUC is continuing its CO2 technology. Now as before, this laser technology has its strong points for a wide range of applications. With the new laser named Fanuc Fiber Laser FF 3000i – Model A (for the 3 kW version), the company presents a sound alternative.
